First, a little local history. When our soldiers came home from World War 2, Bridghampton Commons was nothing more than a potato field. In the economic boom that followed, this site became an outdoor drive in theater. A strip mall was eventually built and what is now K-Mart was first Modell's, and then Caldor. This K-Mart still pulls a profit and, eventually, will be one of the last stores to close when SHC finally pulls the plug on what is ultimately a failing company. You will be informed by management that this is not a flyer store. They do not honor the K-Mart flyer or insert that usually is included in your Newsday paper. The Riverhead K-Mart does and the Riverhead K-Mart actually has lower prices across the board. Want to completely subvert their system? Order online and pick up that Samsung TV at the store 3 hours later. Just make sure it's in stock beforehand! You just saved yourself a buck and a half! There are computer kiosks for public use in every store. Looking for the Martha Stewart product line? Years ago she pulled her product line out of K-Mart/ Sears and went to Macy's. Like myself, she permanently got the hell out of the Hamptons after being continually harassed by idiotic landlords and neighbors. What a shame! Unlike me, though, she could do way more than walk and chew gum at the same time and she was part of the IN CROWD, or was she? She ended up teaching weaving and flower arrangement in a low security prison in Connecticut for a while, and then continued on with her life. She is an amazing woman who I actually met years ago while I worked with Amy Perlin. Amy, God rest her soul, was an equally driven woman who I had the pleasure of knowing. Queen of the antique trade in NYC and the Hamptons! Anyway, K-Mart is open 8:00am to 10:00pm daily where you will be greeted by those precious non-local workers and non-local managers who simply cannot afford to live in the Hamptons, darling! I think they all live in Shirley-Mastic, Hampton Bays, and Riverhead, poor souls!!! Clarification: the Hamptons start east of the Shinnecock Canal and end at the beach just east of the Montauk lighthouse. Montauk, as much as the landed gentry of East Hampton village would like to forget, is actually part of the Town of East Hampton. If you live in Westhampton, or Hampton Bays, my pet, you simply do not live in the Hamptons! Now, you'll have to excuse me, darling, I have errands to run in Bridge and lunch in Sag Harbor with my broker and my therapist at American Hotel!!! Arrivederci! Ciao!!! Kissy, Kissy!!!!
